Job Introduction
Assistant Batch & Furnace Manager (INTERNAL CANDIDATES ONLY) | PERMANENT | DERRYLIN| £42-50k depending on experience
Reporting to the Batch & Furnace Manager, you will ensure best practice operating procedures are applied, while mentoring and developing Batch and Furnace operators in achieving their duties. Key Responsibilities of the role include the continuous monitoring of furnace operations and ensuring timely resolution of department challenges. The role will coordinate with and operationally assist the Batch and Furnace Manager to achieve departmental performance goals around safety, glass quality, production output, asset life and energy efficiencies.
The Assistant Batch and Furnace Manager is a key role to ensure the departments performance goals are achieved. You will assist with furnace repairs and support engineering as required. You will also be involved in operational audits and promoting the use of operational best practices.
Working Hours- Monday-Thursday 8am-5pm, Friday 8am-3.15pm
The Key Requirements
- A good understanding of production systems & machinery with a basic understanding of both mechanical and electrical systems
- HND/HNC in engineering preferred
- Significant exposure in furnace operations & glass technology will be highly regarded
- Operator licences, Forklift Truck & Shovel operations desirable, training will be provided if required
- Process Control knowledge
- Technical Engineering background
- Prior experience in supervising people & mitigating associated risks
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Attention to detail
- Ability to read and understand furnace drawings
- High quality standards
- Ability to communicate and maintain good working relationships with colleagues at all levels
