We have an excellent opportunity for a motivated and ambitious individual to take on the role of General Maintenance Mechanical Chargehand in one of the most innovative and sustainable businesses – ENCIRC, in Elton, Chester.
Main Responsibility
Health & Safety Responsibilities
- Ensure adherence to company safety standards, policies and procedures. Including but not limited to; LOTO, Permit to Work, Safe Isolation of Hazardous Energy.
- Ensure any concerns regarding Health & Safety are reported using the company’s Health & Safety portal and any appropriate actions are ‘owned’ and driven to conclusion.
- Ensure that all maintenance staff are health and safety compliant with the completion of H&S audits, focusing on safe working practices and ensuring adherence to PPE standards and dynamic risk assessments.
Production and Quality
- Analyse and prioritise engineering resource effectively to reduce equipment MTTR in efforts to minimise production down time.
- Effectively coordinate the planned maintenance schedule whilst providing focus and support to unplanned maintenance activities on shift.
- Adopt and drive a ‘Fix 4 Life’ approach to equipment repairs, and offer respectful challenge to identify true root-cause to problems and issues through the utilisation of Kaizen and RCA tools.
- Support in the collection of accurate process data through the use of CMMS and the hold the ability to analyse to improve process efficiencies throughout the plant.
- Develop and maintain relations with the Engineering Manager, Operations team, Quality team and maintenance departments on production and equipment concerns.
- Effectively communicate and handover all relevant information and hold the ability to document technical information on a shift report.
- Control and manage spare parts effectively, ensuring correct stock levels of line critical equipment are maintained and that all items utilised are booked from stores, with the appropriate communication given to the relevant stakeholders as required.
- Support in the management and execution of the engineering ongoing works backlog.
Housekeeping
- Ensure all work areas are left safe, clean and tidy after engineering work has been completed.
- Ensure the general maintenance workshop area standards are maintained and the area is kept neat, well-stocked, clean and organized.
People Management
- Provide leadership and support to a team of mixed trade technicians.
- Ensure all appropriate policies and procedures are kept up to date and accurate.
- Support in the control and management of all maintenance activities.

The Ideal Candidate
- Time served mechanical technician with more than 5years manufacturing engineering experience
- Level 3 / ONC / City Guilds qualified
- Experience working within an industrial environment
- Excellent leadership, planning & co-ordination skills
- Coach and mentor experience
- Capable of working with minimum supervision
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- PRISMA experience (CMMS)
- Computer literate – Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint
