On behalf of ENCIRC, Adecco are recruiting for a Payroll Specialist on a 9 month fixed term contract to join the ever-growing, highly successful manufacturing plant in Elton, Chester.

Main Responsibility

As a Payroll Specialist you will ensure accurate and timely payroll processing in accordance with company deadlines and statutory regulations, with a strong focus on customer service. This is a high volume Payroll Position.

  • Ensuring accurate and timely payroll end-to-end processing in accordance with set payroll deadlines and statutory requirements 

  • Servicing multiple sites and payrolls as part of a team to deliver an excellent payroll service to our employees. 

  • Managing complex payroll related actions and data within payroll software system, including: 

  • Starters, leavers, changes and absences

  • Timesheet data, variations and adjustments 

  • Salary changes 

  • Changes to benefits, allowances, and other payments 

  • Pension deductions 

  • Maintain relationship with external payroll software support partner and escalate processing/calculation issues as and when required. 

  • Manage, respond and resolve employee payroll queries by phone, email and face-to-face  

  • Processing statutory payments. 

  • Generating payroll-related reports and documents, such as P60s, P45s etc. 

  • Completes and returns payroll data to third parties, such as HMRC (RTI), pension providers, and courts etc. 

  • Distributing payslips to multiple platforms and responding to queries that may arise 

  • Ensuring procedures and key control documents are kept up to date for auditing purposes. 

  • Ensuring you have up to date knowledge of statutory and legislative regulations by attending regular training/refresher courses. 

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience of working in a multi-frequency payroll environment is preferred

  • Experience from an accounts or financial background is desirable

  • Strong practical understanding of payroll calculations, deadlines, and UK legislation and requirements. 

  • Knowledge of month-end and year-end returns and balancing with the ability to perform manual calculations, as and when required.  

  • Previous experience of using SAP payroll software an advantage. 

  • Strong numerical abilities and proven experience in MS Office, in particular Excel.

  • Good organisation and prioritisation skills, ensuring stringent deadlines are met. 

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team. 

  • Flexibility, adaptability, and problem-solving abilities. 

  • Discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality. 

Package Description

Salary: £28,000-£30,000 (dependant on  experience)
