Senior Legal Counsel - Internal Candidates Only

Job Introduction

SENIOR LEGAL COUNSEL | 12 MONTH MATERNITY COVER 

As our SENIOR LEGAL COUNSEL, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of legal governance related to business operations at the three Encirc manufacturing sites—Derrylin, Elton, and Avonmouth—as well as any associated locations, such as the Ballyconnell warehouse. This role involves providing legal counsel, strategic guidance, and specialized advice, along with maintaining comprehensive documentation and records for these areas.

Additionally, the Senior Legal Counsel will support the Company Secretary and offer proactive, business-oriented legal advice. The role also involves implementing initiatives to promote a culture of integrity and ethical conduct throughout the organization.

As part of a small legal team, you will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and engage external legal advisors when necessary.


Hours: Mon-Thurs 8am-5pm, Fri 8am-2.30pm 38.25 hrs per week


The Key Requirements 

  • Proven track record providing Legal provision in a multi-site organisation.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of corporate law, policies, and procedures.
  • Experience of working within a lean manufacturing / FMCG environment desirable
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of commercial contract law.
  • Professional legal qualification
  • Experience in providing legal advice as Legal Counsel in house or via a legal consultancy.
  • Sound operational knowledge of UK and NI law.
  • High degree of professional ethics and integrity, and sound judgement to analyse situations and information
  • Proven ability to deliver positive and constructive internal and external relationship management across multiple departments.
  • Able to demonstrate personal success in the achievement of continuous improvements in aspects of legal applications.
  • Must be able to demonstrate ability to influence at a senior management level across functional areas.
  • Committed to learning and self-development – evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Professional in approach, being able to lead by example, operate sensitively in tricky situations and confidently communicate effectively at all levels of the business.
  • The candidate will be expected to work independently and as part of a team, so it is important to be a team player, with effective communication skills (both written and verbal) and ability to build strong relationships across the organisation.
  • Strong working knowledge of legal risk management, governance, and applicable Legislation
  • Experience of providing advice on technical legal issues to senior stakeholders and ensuring the information is translated for a non-technical audience.
  • Strong planning skills, ensuring strategies developed and followed through to ensure success.
