Quality Technologist - Internal Only

Job Introduction

Quality Technologist | Bristol | Permanent | £35,000- £41,000

The Quality Technologist will help deliver continual quality compliance, and improvement, on site - through supporting the site implementation of the centrally-defined quality system - to ensure the highest food safety, quality, and compliance standards are achieved and maintained.

The Quality Technologist will work closely with the QC Manager to support management of the site Laboratory processes & process area, compliance to the internal audit program, and implementation of centrally-set quality & food safety standards on site; by using detailed data analysis to identify opportunities for improvement and help action these, overseeing aspects of the NCR process, preparing quality reports, and helping ensure that only product fit for sale is released to trade.

  • Collation of all product quality-relevant KPIs, in support of internal & external reporting, including bulk wine quality.
  • Perform analysis on site Quality Dept.-generated data, to identify and support opportunities for improvement in Lab, and site quality management, processes, and to support the successful implementation of these.
  • Support the management of quality-food safety non-conformances – through coordination of root cause analysis, and implementation of robust corrective & preventative action – on site
  • Support the management of the Laboratory as an operational area of the site, including coordination of Lab projects, method development, fault finding and verification & calibration management.
  • Support the implementation of site process changes (e.g. launch of new pack formats, introduction of new customers, changes to ways-of-working with existing customers,…) into the Lab’s day-to-day working practices.
  • Performance of both internal, and GMP (‘OneStandard’), auditing on site – in compliance with the centrally-set audit programmes.
  • Support site & central Quality Management across customer & third-party audits

 

The Key Requirements 

  • Experience working in both industrial quality control Lab, and food industry, environments - with a detailed understanding of laboratory operations, and working knowledge of general quality management processes.
  • Training and experience of internal auditing, within a food manufacturing environment, an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of industry legislation and standards (wine, cider, beer and soft drinks).
  • Food Safety and Quality Systems / BRC/ISF/ISO/HACCP training & experience an advantage
  • Technical attitude and awareness – ability to logically diagnose technical issues
  • Computer skills – MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) – and an aptitude for data analysis
